Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been pretty good the last 2 weeks, I have caught good numbers of Snook and Redfish from Flamingo to Marco Island.
April 13-14- 2012
I pre fished on Friday and fished the Backwater series tourn on Saturday out of Calusa Marina in Goodland. I was with partners Mitch and Bruce scouting a spot a found a couple weeks ago on a charter. We worked the area and caught 4 fish @10 lbs., I figured we could get up to 11 lbs. The spot was relatively close to the takeoff area, we were expecting winds of 25 mph. The morning wasn't to bad we had our 2 fish limit (8 lbs.) in the boat by 7.50 am., this gave us the rest of the day to upgrade. Our plans were to get 2 and run south and look for a 6 lb. plus fish, but once the winds kicked up we stayed close. We fished for 8 hours instead of running for 4 hours like I usually do. We ended up catching a bunch of Redfish for a total weight of 10.00 lbs. Bruce had a really nice 14 lb Snook to cap off the day. We finished in ninth place 6 ounces out of the money.

I am with Peter Hayman 82 yrs old, his daughter Lisa, grandaughter Lauren and Matt at Flamingo. I motored up to a bar and explained where to cast, Peter's cast landed on the spot and spooked out some Reds. It wasn't to long after he caught one, then it was on. Matt caught one off the back Lisa was on the Trout and then Lauren caught a Pompano. The bite was steady for 2 hours with Redfish up to 5 lbs. Once it slowed we took a ride and caught some Trout for dinner.

I am with Mitri, Natalio, and Moscow Mike fishing a 1/2 day at Flamingo today. I bounced around early staying close. The boat traffic in Snake Bite annoys me, I like to fish alone so ran a bit. I ran to a creek and found some mudding fish at the bottom of the tide. We had a couple big missed bites and ended up with a bunch of big up to Trout 4 lbs , a 6 lb. Bluesfish, Jacks, Ladyfish and cast at some Sharks.
Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

Snook seem to making a comeback!
