Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

If you have a chance to get out to Florida bay anytime soon, now is the time! Lots of tailing Reds can be found early in the morning at sunrise making there way up on to the bights east of Flamingo as well as lots of Snook beating up the mangrove shorelines on the high falling tides.
Reds are also making a showing in good numbers on the outer islands to the south as well as to the east of Flamingo. You don't have to be too selective on your fly selection, as they seem to be readily chomping most of the usual suspect Redfish patterns! Redfish sliders are always a great choice as well as Redfish toads tied in brown or black with a hint of gold flashabou, and for a good all around pattern that gets a good reaction from most flats predators, the Prince of Tides is a great choice. Biscayne Bay is also firing up for spring, with this warm weather the bonefish are getting in that early morning tailing mode! The western flats of south Biscayne Bay are prime time right now, also with the weather starting to get hotter and hotter Permit are getting a bit more abundant in the Bay and not a bad idea to make a little run to hit the oceanside of Key Largo, from the east shoreline on down to Garden Cove! Tarpon are also starting to show up too, each day the numbers are them are starting to grow, getting into their migration state of mind, after a long hard winter it's welcome sight for all of us, time to put some of them airborne! Been tying up patterns all winter gearing up for now, some new ones as well as the old stand by's. With all that said, hopefully we're on the verge of a great spring and summer season of fishing, Bring it on! Hope eveyone is getting out there and catching em up.........Capt. Joe!
