Strong winds but plenty of fish!

Capt. Jim Hobales
March 26, 2012
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The last 3 weeks have been as windy as I've been busy, so my reports are condensed. I have fished N. Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Flamingo and Marco Island in the last 3 weeks. I thanks all my customers for letting me guide them to some fun fishing days.

Miami Beach

We have had some good catches in bad weather from Tarpon hook ups in big swells in Government Cut to 15 lb. Jack Crevalles inside the bay. There has been Trout to 5.8 lbs, Ladyfish over 4 lbs. and plenty of Bluefish,Trout,Barracudas and Jacks when conditions keep me in the bay. While fishing Tarpon in the bay one evening a 150 lb. monster nearly made it into the boat bouncing off the side. The Snappers, Groupers, Yellowtails, Hog Snappers and an assortment of others have been bighting in G. Cut. The bridges have had some good Tarpon fishing at night on the out going tides.

Flamingo

I can usually find some kind of action at Flamingo, I generally like to start out looking for Tarpon and catch some fish while looking. This last couple weeks have produce plenty of Redfish, Trout, Snook up to 13 lbs, and several Tarpon including one that spooled us on light spinning gear. I did find a late season Grouper bite last week with Gag Grouper's up to 27 inches. The other fish that has been cooperating is the Tripletails, if you want a good fish to eat. I have been covering allot of water trying to show my customers the best possible time with some really difficult conditions. Throw in a few Sharks and all the incidental fish we have caught big numbers of fish.

The winds will come down soon and we can get back to work on Tarpon, its much easier finding them when it slick calm. We should start to get some mullet runs on both coast soon so we have that to look forward to.

If you would like to give anything I do a try give me a call at 305 333 8149

thanks, Capt. Jimbo
