Summers almost gone!

Capt. Jim Hobales

Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I have been on vacation for the last 2 weeks so I dont have an updated personal report but here is a list of possibilities we have daily.

Flamingo should be at its peak right now with Snook, Tarpon and Redfish on the flats, motes and in potholes. The backcountry was red hot last time I was there 2 weeks ago with with Snook ranging from 1 lb to 15 lbs. I have heard good things about the Tarpon in Florida Bay this past week and will have an updated report after tomorrow the 13th.

The Permit fishing should be good right now on the incoming tides, look on the channel edges and areas with white strips down the edge of Elliot Key. If you need a Bonefish pick a day with a mid morning incoming
tide, this gives you a chance to fish the outside flats then move inside, there's a 2 hour tide difference in some areas.

The night time bridge fishing in North Biscayne Bay will hold Tarpon and Snook when the tide falling out of the bay. The inlets are full of big Snook right now that are in there for the spawn, I like to use the 4 inch Gulp Shrimp and the Rapala X Raps, if these don't catch them they are not biting.

There are plenty of options for fun fishing too! I don't forget the kids like to catch fish and not just go for a boat ride, there are Jacks Trout, Ladyfish and of course the big favorite of Sharks. I haven't met a kid that dont like to catch Sharks, there reputation is not overrated.

Give me a call at 305 333 8149 if I can help you with your fishing desires.
