This morning I am part of an 8 boat group from Toyota in North Biscayne Bay, I have Marsha and Melissa with me from San Antonio,Texas. Marsha walked up to me as they exited the bus and said are you going to catch fish, I said yes and they got on board. We worked our way out of Haulover Marina and went north, since its all no wake I usually troll and have had some success. The X-Rap wasn't out more than a minute and it got hit and the fish didn't stop. It pulled 50 yards off the spool as I turned the boat into it and tried to catch up. Melissa and Marsha were in the middle of a Chinese fire drill and really didn't know what to do. Once we got situated the fish continued to pull and got wrapped up around the tip off some rocks and cut us off. My guess is it was a big Jack Crevalle!
We continued on and that was it except for a couple small Cuda's. I ran south and went looking for some bigger Cuda's and Trout, They really didn't know how to cast when they got on the boat ,they listened to the lesson I gave them and were casting 100 feet by the end of the day. They caught numerous 5 lb. Barracudas and Trout up to 20 inches and I could see they wanted something else. I ran to a spot where I found a bunch of Sharks a couple days before but today there were only Tarpon! It wasn't an easy cast but the kept trying and eventually Melissa something only it wasn't a Tarpon, the fish pulled and then jumped letting us know it was a big Snook. We landed the fish and got some great pictures of the 32 inch daytime Snook. We were running out of time so we headed back and made one last stop and caught a few more Trout. They were pumped up asking fellow employees what they had caught while not realizing how good a fish that Snook was.

I am with my tournament partner Paul today kind of pre fishing for some upcoming tournaments. The Snook fishing is still not like it was before the freeze we had and we we out to see if we could find some. Our first stop was productive but we didn't land a fish, 8 or 10 bite and they were not stay hooked. I rigged up a Gulp Shrimp pitched up in to the tree and got slammed, the fish pulled drag and then let go. This was strange so we move on, we actually learned there were some fish down from the area so we moved on with some new knowledge. The next spot was similar a couple hits but they were short strikes and coming off. We moved around from spot to spot just playing. Paul got hit, it was a the big Snook was pulling drag and then it was gone this happed 3 or 4 times, we just didn't get it. Either of us usually miss fish and today it was ridiculous. The only positive thing was we were
definitely on fish! The S.W. wind may of had them striking the lure differently today but it continued the whole day. We got on some over slot Reds and had 4 or 5 hooked up and they just let go. I said this is enough. I had some finger mullet in the well and I waited for the fish to hit his lure, then I pitched it in front of it. The bait was slammed and let go, all I could say is this is crazy! We eventually put a 26 1/2 Redfish in the boat. The Sharks moved in on us and then everything shut down. It was getting pretty hot storms kicking up and there wasn't much tide doing anything so we headed in.

I got a call from Tommy he said me and my buddies Mike, Eric and Ed want to go fishing on Sunday afternoon out of Haulover @ 3 PM. I guess he never seen the circus up there on Sundays, I said why not. The conditions were perfect 95 degrees and a million people on the water, If I can catch fish in these conditions I doing good. I met up with them and Haulover as the cops are running around trying to direct traffic. We leave the marina and go by the sand bar as they looked in disbelief! There was boats, music and women and we all just stared to be honest. Once we got going the bite was slow, we had a few follow ups. We caught some cuda's and then moved to some deeper water and slammed the big Trout. Tommy said what else can we do? I said I got some Tarpon but we need to wait and hour so we caught a few more fish and then made a long run down south. I pulled up and it was overcast with some heavy showers to the west which helped our cause. The Tarpon were there and we cast Twitch n Raps at them Tommy got hit, then Mike. We had 4 strike but no landing's finally they said we got to go to work, at Tootsies!
