Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

100809
The last 2 weeks fishing has been from really good to kind of slow around this full moon during the daylight hours. The Tarpon have been plentiful from just out front of Flamingo all the way around Cape Sable up to Lostmans river. All you have to look for is a big flat where the water drains into a channel or a trough in Florida Bay, out in the gulf look for rolling fish just of the beach.

Whitewater Bay has produced some quality catches for my customers as well, Babb Rollins had a 15 lb Snook, Eric Castillo had a 38 inch Redfish, and numerous Tarpon were caught all on a cycliyd colored "Twitch in Rap". Paul Haines had a field day hooking and jumping Tarpon eventually we got a 45 lb. fish to the boat. The back country is alive with other species as well, the Goliath Groupers have brought a few customers to their knees and just couldn't believe how hard they hit. The Mangrove snappers are in full feeding mode in Floriday Bay put out a chum bag and it take about 2 minutes before the mother load of Snappers show up live small pin fish just of the bottom will get the best ones.

The Snook seem to be either over or under the slot limit with not many keepers, but still plenty of them to catch. The fishing should get back on track this weekend now the full moon is waning.

Snake bight channel as usual has been a hot spot for Tarpon, small Snook and Reds, if your down for the day you dont have to go farther than that

Flamingo Fishing Forecast:

It's only going to get better with temps cooling down.
