Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

I am at Haulover this morning with Frank his daughter Anya, Jeff and his wife Rachel. On the way out I netted some Pilchards and chummed up some big Jacks for starters. Anya and Rachel had a double to start and it continued for an hour until I ran out of bait, we had a couple 4 ft. Bull Sharks come in on our Jacks but never ate on. I noticed the Pelicans diving so I netted some more baits. I went to an area that's been holding some decent Trout and today was no different. We put baits out on popping corks and started catching Trout from 12 inches to one that was over 5 lbs. We had a couple big fish on that didn't seem like Trout possibly Snook but came unhooked. They were from Switzerland and wanted to site see a little bit so we did and then called it a morning.

On the ride down this morning the weather looked bad and it was supposed to rain all day. I got to the dock and never saw a drop but it rained in Miami all day. This happens allot down at the park, people forget its on the other coast and we get a different weather patter on most days!
I am at Flamingo today with Neil and Rick, we started out close and hit a couple holes for Snook and Redfish using live shrimp. The Snook weren't there but the Snappers ate every bait we had a couple up to 13 inches. The second spot produced good bites but no fish ! We moved on and kept pecking away at them. We caught some really nice Trout, Jacks and Ladyfish. I wanted to catch the end of the falling tide which was in a mullet mud. We chunked out some baits and it was slow for a bit and then all hell broke loose. We had a 100 lb. Tarpon tip up and tail on our bait which was in less then a foot of water, at the same time I saw the rod twitch. Rick grabbed the rod and the Tarpon was off and up, I reminded him that we were using circle hooks and to let the fish run. The Tarpon turned and ran at us jumped and threw the hook. We had a handful of baits get eaten, the rod would double over pull drag then let go and the baits were scaled. The scaled baits are Snook most of the time but not sure why they were letting go. We had a big Redfish eat a bait go nuts and let go we had some weird misses. All of a sudden we had a double hook up of Lemon Sharks they crossed over each other a few times and we got one of them it was like this for 2 hours we hooked over 25 Sharks including a Bull Shark that was @ 9 feet long . It had been cruising around us for a while and I told them we gonna catch that guy! I tossed a live Ladyfish in front of him, It was on a Biscayne rod with 65 lb braid on and Accurate reel we couldn't stop it. The Shark ran at least 250 yards before I told Neil tighten up and break him off. I did not want to leave the area but wanted to get rid of the Shark. It really didn't matter because all that we hooked for those 2 hours were Sharks, Spinners, Black tips and Lemons. I went thru 30 baits, the guys were loving it every time we had a triple hook up.
