tough times

Capt. Jim Hobales
November 19, 2009
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

The fishing has been kind of up and down this month, this past week seems to be a good example of what's been going on. On the colder days we expect to find Redfish and Snook in the deeper channels and holes and they haven't really been there in good numbers. I have had good days but the numbers are down, the bite don't seem to come until the water hits 70 degrees. The by catch of Trout, Jacks, Ladyfish seem to be down this week.

I fished with Doug Smith and it was slow early but once it warmed up some Doug caught 2 Redfish and 4 Snook up to 30 inches on Twitch n Raps.

111609 I am with Mike and Rodney today, the day started out slow but after some moving around we found some fish. We actually found a load of fish in a pothole but didn't catch any. The just turned and swam away. Rodney caught a big Trout and then we moved again. I ran to a shore line that had plenty of cover and We started plugging away and it didn't take long. Mike had a 5 lb. Redfish and Rodney had one, eventually we caught a hanful of snook as well and both guys got a "Backcountry Slam".

The rest of the week looks good with warm temps, the back country has been very tough. The reports I have got are from disappointed anglers back there.

Stop by Dons in Homestead and pick up some live shrimp and fish them on a popping cork this work pretty good for me this week.
