Tripletail, Redfish and Snook!

Capt. Armando Alejo
July 30, 2018
Flamingo - Saltwater Fishing Report

Greetings.

The Everglades summer bite has been Epic for my clients. Over the past 3 charters, we've boated 60+ Redfish, 20+ Tripletail and have jumped double digit Tarpon. Each of these has been targeted with artificial baits, such as Gulp shrimp and MirroDine plugs. On a recent trip, Ed and his son Mike boated 10+ Tripletail, jumped 5 or more Tarpon (bringing one to the boat) and filled a live well with Snapper for their dinner table…The weather has been good with some overcast days, which yielded a very pleasant summer day for us. Not many rain showers and the bugs have remained non existent (thank god!)

I'm pleased to report regarding our Redfish population…Friends, it is alive and thriving! As noted above, we've had several 20+ Redfish days lately, and although they are mostly 12-16 in in length, it's awesome to see how our fishery is alive and well! Many clients have started to book their summer trips now, do the same and get in on the bite- I suspect our winter Redfish bite will be epic!
