April Fishing In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
April 3, 2021
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt.Vinnie here and this week we have a nice report for everyone of one of our best times of the year spring time! As of late we have had exceptional weather and some pretty good fishing as well what more could you ask for. The morning charters have had some great action with lots of nice catches. Early morning fishing has been best on the troll for many different types of gamefish, primarily we have been getting plenty of bonito and blackfin tuna, there has also been some kingfish as well as wahoo, a nice mixed bag. The most productive way of fishing in the morning is using planers to take baits down deep under the surface and for bait fresh bonito strips is key as well as a seawitch in front. Surface baits are getting action as well but not as good as our deeper lines. There has been a few mahi mahi around in the morning as well but not steady yet but a great sign for some good mahi fishing to come soon. Any type of easterly direction wind brings the mahi close to shore this time of year so keep that in mind. Afternoon trips have had very good success with blackfin tuna and trolling has been the best method, the tuna have been averaging 5-15lbs as well get later into the month of April and May we should start to see a lot of bigger tuna around 20-30lbs. Daytime bottom fishing has been somehwhat productive as well for snowy grouper and vermillion snapper on the days that the current is light, this time of year is always a good time if your looking to tangle with a sea monster like a big game shark there have been some large ones around too. All in all this week lots of action on our trips, we have some great photos this week of some recent catches so be sure to check those out. Some availability this week so if your looking to get out fishing now is a great time to do so, as always remember to follow us on instagram and facebook @ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing reports and pictures. More later... Capt.Vinnie 954 559 4700
