Charter Fishing In Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here... man what a report I have for you guys this week. Lets get right to it, as of late trolling for pelagic fish in Fort Lauderdale has been some what slow, but bottom fishing has been where its at and thats what we are know for!! Fishing deeper shipwrecks as well as small rock piles off the coast of Fort Lauderdale have been producing some quality fish. Snowy grouper as well as giant amberjacks and snappers of all colors and sizes have been the main target as of late. Targeting these bottom dwellers fresh bait is key we have been trolling for small bonito to use as cut bait as well as squid works too. Some of the spots we are targeting are in 600 feet of water so conditions are important to be able to set up on a spot correctly. We use a multiple hook rig called a chicken rig when fishing for snappers but when targeting bigger fish like grouper or amberjack a single larger bait seems to be more effective. Another technique that has become quite popular in fort Lauderdale and around the world is slow pitch jigging, we have been doing some of these trips with great results, a lot of the times in the heat of the day the tuna go down to the depths and trolling your baits are on the surface really, where jigging you can send lures to the bottom where the fish are feeding during the heat of the day. While jigging we have also been doing well on amberjack, rose fish and snowy grouper, jigging is a great tool to have in your arsenal when fishing is slow. Lots of great photos this week of some great catches as well as a snowy grouper around 30lbs one of my favorite fish to eat, I also have some great photos from our recent jigging trip with a variety of species we captured all great eating. As far as a night time fishing report I do not have one I have not been out at night recently but im sure the fish will bite, February is a great month for snapper day and nigh time. anyways this week we have some availability and would love to get you out fishing in Fort Lauderdale with us, remember to follow us on instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing and follow us on facebook for daily fishing reports and videos. Tight lines!
