Deep Sea fishing charters in Fort Lauderdale

Capt. John Logan
September 14, 2019
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

We continue to enjoy reasonable weather and the catching has been OK too. Winds from the south and a good amount of sun. We scooted the 53 over to Freeport in the Bahamas one (very long) day and delivered a load of necessities for folks over there who had to endure ( and still endure the result of) Hurricane Dorian and the sad breakdown of every day life. They got to put it simply hammered and catastrophe is an appropriate word. Missed us by that much, lucky lucky lucky. Running our Deep Sea fishing charters here in FT. Lauderdale, catching fish, and feeling very fortunate.

Good numbers of Kings inside water 150 feet in depth. Trolling has proven effective and as expected, especially in the summer, the deeply fished braided line planer rods are scoring more than others. Long light leaders will and most often do make a difference in drawing bites. Bonito and Mullet strip baits fashioned by our crews and fished in conjunction with a colorful sea-witch style head and a splash of reflective Mylar material in the body gets not only the Kings but also Sailfish, Wahoo, Bonito, Tuna and others to commit to taking the baits. Only a few Mahi-Mahi around but they will also grab a deep line on a glassy calm day when they aren't visibly active near the surface. Deep line, surface line, if trolling cover both those bases and up goes your numbers. Some baitfish showing in the area, much more to come shortly. Trying to get all of our angler photos of those who have joined us here aboard Marlin My Darlin. Here's some more as always with this report. Tight lines.
