Deep Sea fishing charters in Ft. Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Summer is certainly here with temperatures into the low 90s pretty much every day. Some choppy seas earlier in the week have calmed and we are enjoying comfortable conditions on our Deep Sea fishing charters. In Ft. Lauderdale we are fortunate to have deep water very close to shore so the ride out to the edge is short and we are often fishing very soon after leaving the dock.

The Mahi Mahi fishing has been erratic so we have been taking advantage of the near shore reefs, where the fishing has been pretty good. Zigzagging back and forth along the reef line is a good approach this time of year and that nice Wahoo in the picture was taken this way. Best depths are from 90 to 200 feet of water.

Those same depths are producing nice schoolie sized Kings with good regularity. The summer Bonito have been showing up in there, which is where we expect them to be, but the numbers are up for this early.

Blackfin Tuna off the edge with a bit later in the afyernoons being the best for them. Sailfish are scarce here but that will improve somewhat if typical summers past are any indication and they will begin to show more often along the reefs.

The larger sharks have moved on but there is reasonable action on 5 to 7 footers with two bites from 7 foot Hammerheads very quickly yesterday afternoon.
