Fort Lauderdale Fishing Report – Six Action-Packed Charters 🌊🐟
The bite has been on fire here in South Florida, and every trip aboard the 52' Hatteras sport fish "Happy Day Today" has delivered big smiles, bent rods, and memories that will last a lifetime. Whether it's Tuna, Sailfish, King Mackerel, or Sharks, our anglers have been treated to the very best of deep-sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale.
Here's a look at exciting charters this month:

🐟 Susan's Tuna & Sailfish Charter
Susan, her husband, and their four kids made the trip down from Jacksonville, FL for a 6-hour Fort Lauderdale fishing charter. Conditions were beautiful: light easterly winds, a gentle northerly current, and 1–2-foot seas. I always prefer a little chop—it helps the baits swim naturally in the waves, while flat-calm seas often make the fish stay deeper.
We started trolling in 300 ft of water, right where the continental shelf drops off. It didn't take long before the first rod doubled over with a Blackfin Tuna. Not long after, a 25 lb. Blackfin crushed the bait and gave us an awesome light-tackle battle 💪🐟. A clean gaff shot, and we had it in the boat!
Bonita kept the action going, but the trip's highlight came when a Sailfish lit up on the rigger bait. The bill flashed behind the spread, the fish swiped twice, then—boom—we were hooked up! 🔥 The Sail came screaming out of the water, jumping more than a dozen times before we brought it to the boat for a quick release. An unforgettable day of deep-sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale! 🌊🎣

🐠 Alejandro & Sons' Sailfish Adventure
Alejandro and his three boys joined us for a half-day charter out of Port Everglades. The seas were calm, skies were clear, and the water was a gorgeous deep blue. As soon as we set the baits, the action started—Bonita and King Mackerel were hammering both the outriggers and planner lines 🎯.
The trip's highlight came when a Sailfish slammed the outrigger line and tore off across the surface. Drag screaming, line peeling, the fish came out of the water with huge leaps and even pulled off a cartwheel in midair 🤯. After a hard-fought battle, we released the Sail healthy and strong.
The family wrapped up their Fort Lauderdale fishing charter with tired arms, smiles from ear to ear, and even took some fresh fillets to a local restaurant for dinner. Nothing beats fishing, family, and fresh seafood! 🍴🐟

🐟 Chris's Smoker King Mackerel
Chris and his family from Texas wanted a day of action and excitement while fishing in Fort Lauderdale, and that's exactly what they got. First mate Kyle rigged a spread that included a belly-rigged Islander Ballyhoo—a bait that would prove deadly.
We worked the reef in 150 ft of water, where the ocean looked "fishy." The planner lines lit up first with solid King Mackerel. Bonita joined the fun, keeping the rods busy. Then came a 55-inch Barracuda 🐊, which we released after a great fight.
The biggest moment came when the belly-rigged Ballyhoo got crushed by a true Smoker King Mackerel. This fish put up an incredible fight, testing the gear and the angler's strength before hitting the deck. A trophy catch and a highlight of their Fort Lauderdale deep sea fishing experience! 🏆🎣

🎣 Jeremy & Son's 30-Fish Day
Jeremy and his son traveled from New Jersey with one goal: make memories on the ocean. Their half-day deep sea fishing charter in Fort Lauderdale turned into an all-out fishing marathon.
From the first lines out, the action never stopped. The Bonita migration was in full swing, and we caught fish on every setup—the outriggers, high lines, and deep planner lines were all bending nonstop 💥. By the end of the trip, Jeremy and his son had landed over 30 fish!
With sore arms, huge smiles, and stories they'll tell for years, this father-son duo had a trip they'll never forget. That's what Fort Lauderdale fishing is all about: action, excitement, and memories made together. 👨👦🐟

⚓ Amber & Almaco Jacks on the Wrecks
August has been delivering some outstanding bottom fishing, with both Amberjack and Almaco Jacks biting aggressively on the wrecks. These powerhouse fish live in and around shipwrecks and bottom structure from 175 to 375 ft of water.
We've had success with both live and dead baits—though live bait tends to draw faster strikes 🎯. When the live baits aren't producing, switching to dead baits has triggered the bite. Anglers have been pulling in both species: Almaco Jacks, with their elongated dorsal fin, and Amberjacks, with their bold amber stripe.
Each fish is a bruiser, offering drag-pulling fights that leave anglers sweating, laughing, and sometimes needing a break after just one battle 💪🔥. If you're looking for rod-bending action, wreck fishing in Fort Lauderdale is a must-try. ⚓🐟

🦈 Shark Bite is On!
For thrill-seekers, August has been shark season. Sharks have been coming through strong, making them a great way to end a charter after targeting edible fish earlier in the trip.
We've been catching a variety: Hammerheads, Sandbar Sharks, Bull Sharks, Dusky Sharks, Blacktips, Spinners, and Nurse Sharks, with chances at Tigers or even a Thresher 🦈. Dead bait rigged on circle hooks has been the ticket—better hook-up ratios and less damage to the Sharks for a safe release.
Whether it's a bachelor party, a reunion, or a family trip, there's nothing quite like battling a Shark. The adrenaline rush, the teamwork, and finally watching one swim away strong—it's an unforgettable part of deep-sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale. 💥🦈🌊
