Chris Brenner from Ohio along with JB Brenner, Max and Dave Harry from Florida chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had nice comfortable weather with clear and sunny skies and an easterly wind blowing 10 mph.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started trolling with two deep plainers and four surface lines trolling to the south of Fort Lauderdale. The first fish we caught was a Kingfish weighing about 10 pounds on the deep plainer. I continued trolling south of Fort Lauderdale seeing more schools of bait and birds working over the area. The next fish we caught was a nice size Barracuda - pictures were taken, hooks were removed and the Barracuda was released.

I saw some birds offshore in 350 ft. of water working the area, and so I trolled over to where the birds were. Immediately, we got a strike on the right long and caught a real nice Bull Mahi Mahi – he gave a good fight. We continued trolling along the reef line going over reef, wrecks and rock structures and caught another two Kingfish, two Bonitos and a Cero Mackerel.

Next, we tried kite fishing in 125 ft. of water. We put two kites up in the air with four live Goggle Eyes for bait. Within a shot time and some luck we got another nice two Mahi Mahi's. We continued fishing and missed a few Kingfish bites, only getting back the hooks.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Fred, our mate, fillet out their catches. Great day fishing with the guys!
