Early June fishing in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

And suddenly May has slipped away and we find ourselves into early June and fishing in Fort Lauderdale is off to a pretty good start. Nice weather with almost no rain. Nice weather meaning sunscreen weather, it's bright most days. Near shore fishing in water from 100 to 300 feet continues to be the best approach, especially if you are looking for action and that action has been an especially good mix for when we have kids aboard. Taking advantage of what the ocean is offering on a given day is a good approach. Kings and Cudas inside of 180 feet with the calmer water and less current than we have recently had probably the reason they have been out to 180 feet but also remaining in the 100 foot areas where they have been recently holding. The Bonito on some days can be fierce. Blackfin Tunas and occasional Wahoo or Sail right along the edge and just off. Occasional Mahi at best wherever you choose to fish and Golden Tilefish are back in the picture with good ones at less than three miles off the beach taking cut baits of Bonito and King fished dead on the bottom. Amberjack season continues and our best action has continued to be to the south of our inlet on wrecks that receive little pressure. Good sized fish on live bait and the jig. Sharks continue to push through, not staying, with the exception of a couple of Bull Sharks that have pulled up and are sitting on wrecks and Sandbars that often prefer the reef more often than not to deeper water. Enjoy the pictures of recent anglers who have joined us here aboard Marlin My Darlin for a Fort Lauderdale fishing charter. Tight lines to all. Sunglasses, a hat and sunscreen. Summer is here.
