Some might read that opening heading as less than ideal, but when it comes to fishing in Ft. Lauderdale a drop in temperature in February is often a good thing. Keep in mind that this is South Florida so it is not as if we are going to ice up. Average high temperature for a February day is 78 degrees. As we head offshore this morning we are looking at a high of 67 with 68 the high for tomorrow per the National Weather Service. Starting off our day here just above 50. We like it and offshore deep sea fishing in Ft. Lauderdale on these cooler days often shows the fish like it too. Not a good morning for our Alligators and Pythons back in the Everglades. Here's to a good jolt to improve the Sailfishing as it has been weak with only a few fish showing in the spread. Some Wahoo around as we bundle up this morning and Blackfin Tunas, both just off the reef line, but overall fishing remains erratic. Big king pictured came in @ 40# and took a live bait fished in 75 feet of water, which is less than a mile off the beach. Enjoy the photos of recent anglers who have joined us here. It is now Matt and Matt (Matt1 and Matt2) aboard our 53 Hatteras as JJ has joined Pink Crustation Nation and Margaritaville teaming up with Jimmy Buffet's personal fishing team based right here in Broward County. The very best to him of course after the years spent with us here. He'll be a good fit with Jimmy B and Matt 2 is a good fit here as well, all of us here at Marlin My Darlin having known him for years. Tight lines and good fishing. Brushing the dust off our windbreakers this morning, nice cooler February morning, see you on the rip.
