Finishing Up August With A Bang In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks
August 29, 2022
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here, the fishing as of late is fantastic right now in fort Lauderdale and I can't wait to tell you all about in this weeks report.. As of late the fishing in fort Lauderdale has been world class I don't know of many areas in the United States where you can catch 10 to 15 good size saltwater fish in a half day trip. On the reef the bonitos have been eating everything that moves like I always say bonito are not the best fish for the dinner table by no means but they put up a hell of a fight and action is always better then catching nothing, we have had some pretty good kingfish action as well but early morning has been best for those guys trolling remains the preferred method to catch them, fresh bonito strips fished on a planer to take the bait down to the strike zone is always a win. While trolling the reef there has been a few nice sized wahoo in the mix. Wahoo are always a great surprise, very tasty on the dinner table anyway you cook them, my favorite way would be raw. Still a few blackfin tuna around late afternoons have been best for them. Bottom fishing this week has been pretty good, a few nice gag grouper we have caught fishing small live baits on shallow shipwrecks, also mutton snapper have been biting live baits while fishing small pieces of structure. Yellowtail snapper have been biting when there is good current to carry your chum down the reef. We also did manage to catch a summertime sailfish this week which is always a nice surprise, not many sailfish around in the summer so if you do catch one it just makes it that much more special. On the offshore side of things there has been a few nice sized mahi around, but the theme as of late is here one day gone the next, I would imagine we would see a nice flurry of bigger fish as September approaches but we will just have to wait for them to reach us. Be sure this week to check out some great pictures of some recent catches during our deep sea fishing charters. As always give us a follow on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing content... All in all the fishing this week has been red hot so many different species available to catch and target and some great weather In Fort Lauderdale right now. If your looking for a deep sea fishing charter look us up we would be happy to take you out fishing and show you a great time...more later Capt. Vinnie 954 559 4700
