Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Royal Lovell, from Colorado, along with his associates, Jeff, Kurt, Ron and Bob, from Connecticut to Florida, chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea sport fishing here in Fort Lauderdale, FL. We had winds out of the east at 15 mph, seas running 3-4 feet, with blue skies and indigo water pushed into the second reef.

Twenty minutes after leaving the dock lines were in the water by the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, FL, located in 120 ft. of water. Due to our extreme drop off, you venture off another ¼ of a mile and you find yourself in 500 ft. of water. Our mission was to catch fish for dinner tonight. We started off trolling with two plainers down and four surface baits. After trolling the reefs and catching 4 Kingfish, two Bonitos and two Barracudas, a rip was forming, which looked very inviting to me, so I set out two kites, with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and one from the rigger with a spin on lead. Twenty minutes into it, an explosion on the left long kite occurred, as line sped off the reel – Kurt was our angler and was rewarded with a large Black Fin Tuna. From there, we reset. Ron was our next angler and he caught a 16 lb. Mahi Mahi. From there everybody took turns bringing in fish from the kites winding up with a total of five Tunas and one Mahi Mahi; the largest tuna weighing in at 30 lbs.

With sushi included on the menu tonight along with Mahi Mahi and Kingfish, it was time to retire into the a/c salon aboard the Happy Day Today for the trip back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
