Fishing In Fort Lauderdale

Capt. Vinnie Sacks

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone, Capt Vinnie here this weeks fishing report is a fun one, lots of great customers from all over and some very nice catches this week also! So lets get started, last weeks report we had some pretty good bottom fishing but this week totally changed, we have been having very strong current most days so bottom fishing has been tough, trolling has been very productive this week fishing on the reef to start there has been a great kingfish bite and some of the kingfish we have been catching have been in upwards of 20lbs which is always a great fish to catch. There also has been a great bite of blackfin tuna in the afternoons trolling has been best for them with small feathers fished way behind the boat. Wahoo this week have been hard to find but I think they will make an appearance if the blackfin tuna stay around. Also this week we did see some nice mahi mahi which is always wonderful to catch and see, mahi have some of the most beautiful colors of any fish in the ocean and they also taste great, we caught some nice mahi mahi recently on one of our deep sea fishing charters in around 600 feet of water off the coast of Fort Lauderdale, we were locating the mahi on seaweed patches, the seaweed is a great thing to find offshore because it is home to many small baitfish that mahi eat. We had one day this week where the current was light and we were able to fish for one of my personal favorite eating fish the golden tilefis, these fish live in depths as deep as 1,000 feet, and have some of the best flaky flesh of any fish species, (pictured) was a beautiful golden tilefish we recently caught on one of our deep sea fishing charters in around 800 feet of water. This week I have some great photos of some recent catches caught aboard the YB Normal so defiantly make sure to check those out, this week coming up we have some availability so if your in Fort Lauderdale and looking to go out deep sea fishing it is a great time of year to do so, excellent weather and the fish are biting what could be better! Also remember to follow us on facebook and instagram @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing videos and pictures.
