On our way out, we stopped at the marina and grabbed some live bait, Goggle Eyes; thereafter, we ran 2 miles off shore to 500 feet of water and started fishing. Due to our extreme drop off in Fort Lauderdale, we have very deep waters close to shore. We put out five surface lines with Ballyhoos and Bonito strips, (a center rigger line, two right and two left rigger lines) plus one deep plainer line. As we were trolling offshore, we found a current edge and color change in 650 ft. of water with floating debris. The anglers started catching Mahi Mahi's - one Mahi Mahi after another - solid action for the better part of an hour. The Mahi Mahi's weight were from 4 to 16 lbs.

We went back to trolling in 675 ft. of water and found a floating pallet. All of a sudden all the lines came down, and we had five Mahi Mahi's hooked up with three anglers working all the lines. The anglers fought and caught them all – great job guys.

Next, we decided to try kite fishing for Sailfish and ran into 150 ft. of water. We put out two kites up in the sky with two live Goggle eyes from each kite. We kite fished until the end of the trip, with no success on the Sailfish.

With a total catch of 19 Mahi Mahi's and one Kingfish, it was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Mark, our mate, filet the fish for the anglers to take home.
