Fishing is HOT in Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here hope everyone is doing well, this week we have a great report with lots of great fishing action happening in the Fort Lauderdale area. Just like the title says the fishing is HOT!! This week we are going to start offshore, the main target as of late has been mahi mahi or dolphin. Dolphin are one of the prettiest fish that you can catch off the coast of fort Lauderdale as well as great table fair for dinner, they are hard fighters and very acrobatic as well. This week has been a great week for mahi with lots of fish being caught. The fish have been somewhat further offshore then normal so you will need at least a 6 hour charter but I recommend an 8 hour charter for mahi this time to year, sometimes it takes a while to find them so the extra time of an 8 hour charter can make a big difference. Most of the mahi we have been catching have been very nice sized and averaging around 7-10lbs. We had our best luck finding birds diving on small baitfish as well as finding floating objects like a bucket or floating bamboo or even larger patches of seaweed, as long as there are baitfish the mahi will be close by. Also while offshore there has been some skipjack and blackfin tuna, both are great fighters and taste excellent, Another fish that has been caught this week and very sought after is the wahoo, they have been biting offshore as well as inshore, trolling planners to get baits down to the depths wahoo feed is important seawitches with bonito strips has been the most effective. Moving inshore towards the edge of the reef, king mackeral have been prevolent as well as lots and lots of bonito. Shark fishing has been good as well if your looking to pull on something large that will test your strength. This week has been some great fishing and plenty options of different species to target if you stay inshore or you go offshore. Make sure to check our pictures out this week with some of the great catches we had on our recent deep sea fishing charters right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. If your coming down to Fort Lauderdale and looking to do some deep sea fishing now is a great time it doesn't get much better then this, coming up we have some availability and would love to have you come out fishing with us, anyways remember to follow us on social media platforms like Instagram and Facebook at @Ybnormalsportfishing for daily fishing reports and pictures.
