Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Top Shot Sportfishing Charter Boat and Capt. Zsak

Mr. & Mrs. Miller along with Mr. & Mrs. Joe Hernandez and friend, Chris, chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Our objective today was to catch some eating fish for our anglers.

Fifteen to twenty minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started the day trolling the reef with two plainers down, one with a pink and blue sea witch in front of a double hooked Bonito strip and the other with a white and blue sea witch. For surface baits we went with four Ballyhoos. We trolled the reefs ranging from 80 ft. out to 200 ft. of water, zig-zagging along the way. Our first strike came on the plainer rod – Joe was our angler, and he reeled in a 10 lb. Barracuda, which was released. From there we kept working the reefs while all of the anglers took turns bringing in their catches.

I noticed some birds working further off shore in approximately 350 ft. of water, so I headed towards that area. I marked bait fish on the depth recorded at the spot where the birds were. Right long! The Tuna jumped out of the water and grabbed the Ballyhoo. After a fifteen minute battle, Kathy brought in a nice 22 lb. Black Fin Tuna. Joe, our mate, gaffed the Tuna and put it in the fish box.

We trolled around the area picking away at more Tunas. We wound up with four Bonitos, two Barracudas, four Kingfish and three Tunas.

It was now time to head back to the dock. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock at Bahia Bar Yachting Center, 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. At the dock, Joe filet the fish for the anglers to take home to enjoy for dinner.
