Weekly Fishing Report | Don't Tell Mom Sportfishing – South Florida
Fishing over the past week has been very productive, with a wide variety of species showing up and biting despite constantly changing conditions. Weather and sea conditions varied quite a bit, ranging from hot, calm, and sunny days to windy, rainy, and cooler conditions later in the week. The current also shifted throughout the week, but one thing stayed consistent—the fish were biting.
Blackfin Tuna action started to become more consistent, especially during cloudy mornings and in the afternoons. We saw some larger fish in the mix as well and managed to land one over 20 pounds, which put up a great fight and was a highlight for our anglers.
We also had some excellent action on the wrecks with two big Amberjacks, one around 40 pounds and another over 50 pounds, both caught on live bait. These fish are known for their strength, and both provided serious battles and a lot of excitement on the rod.
Later in the week, as temperatures dropped slightly, we began to see a few Mahi and Sailfish showing up, along with some King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel moving through the area. Schools of big Jack Crevalle were also patrolling the reef, offering aggressive strikes and powerful fights.
We also caught a 7-foot Dusky Shark, which made for an exciting and memorable experience for everyone on board. These sharks are incredibly strong and always a thrill to battle.
Overall, it was a great week of fishing with a strong mix of pelagic and reef species. Even with changing weather patterns and variable current, the bite stayed active and consistent.
Looking ahead, as water temperatures continue to shift, we expect even more action and a continued variety of species moving through the area.
