Fort Lauderdale Report 4/10/26 -Don't Tell Mom Sportfishing

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Weekly Fishing Report | Don't Tell Mom Sportfishing – South Florida

Fishing over the past week has been very productive, with a great mix of species and consistent action despite somewhat rough conditions. Most days brought strong east winds, overcast skies with scattered storms, and a north current, which set up excellent fishing opportunities.

There have been lots of Blackfin Tuna around, providing steady action and keeping rods bent. We also caught a small Yellowfin Tuna, which is fairly rare for our area and made for a very cool and unexpected catch.

Mahi fishing was strong this week, with most of the action taking place in 180–400 feet of water. We had success trolling flat heads, spoons, dinks, and strips, which produced consistent bites and a good variety of fish.

Wreck fishing has also started to turn on and become more consistent. We caught a few large Amberjacks along with a big Barracuda while sending live bait down on the wrecks. These fish provided some serious fights and great action for our anglers.

We also hooked into a big Nurse Shark this week, giving us another exciting battle and adding to the variety of species caught.

Sailfish have remained consistent for those willing to put in the time kite fishing or slow trolling live baits, with opportunities still there for anglers staying patient and working the right conditions.

Overall, these conditions—strong wind, north current, and cloud cover—typically set up some of the best fishing of the year, and that's exactly what we're seeing right now.

We're in one of the best times of year for fishing, and spots are filling up quickly. If you're thinking about getting out on the water, don't wait.
