Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Hello everyone Capt. Vinnie here hopefully everyone had a happy holidays and a great new year, the fishing has been very good here in the fort Lauderdale area and we have a great report this week for you guys. As of late in Fort Lauderdale the fishing has been very good with lots of different species biting. First off trolling the reefs early in the morning and late afternoon has been very good with great catches of king mackeral as well as bonito and sailfish. Later in the afternoons the tuna bite has been super. Lots of very nice sized blackfin tuna have been caught ranging from 5-15lbs, our simple spread of deep baits fished on planners and surface baits have been producing well for us. On certain days we have been having blue water and heavy north current there has been some wahoo around, we have been targeting them with our deep baits primarily in depths from 200-500 feet of water off the coast of fort Lauderdale. Also when the bite has been somewhat slow fishing in shallow like 15-20 feet there has been a great bite of cero and Spanish mackerel, we have been targeting them with small spoons and little feathers, trolled behind the boat at fast speeds. Mahi mahi have been somewhat scarce right now but there are a few around here and there, we should see more of them as the water temps heat up. Lets move on to bottom fishing, in the daytime there has been some vermillion, yellowed and lane sappers biting on some of the deep areas around 300 feet of water they have been nice size and the best bait for them has been cut bonito, we also this week did catch a very nice sized cobia while bottom fishing for snapper always a nice surprise. This week. make sure to check out our great photos of some recent catches we have had this week, availability the next few weeks is good so if your in the Fort Lauderdale area and looking to fish check us out, as always make sure to follow us on instagram and facebook for daily fishing videos and reports @Ybnormalsportfishng.
