Hot, Cold, Hot fishing

Capt. Ryan McBride
June 19, 2008
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Last week we had consistent fishing for blackfin tunas, kingfish and sailfish though start on friday it started to slow. By Saturday the fishing completely died off. Some fish remained but fishing was dead, with most boats fish struggling to catch any food fish. The sailfish bite remained with most boats fishing goggle eyes having a shot at two fish a day, but overall the food fish bite stopped. Luckily it started to improve again this week. Normally we experience that kind of drop off after a full moon spawn but for some reason the fish spawned a week early and got lock jaw.

This week the sailfish have remained and blackfin tunas have showed up again for an early/late in the day bite. Kingfish have remained on the small side but there are still enough 20+lb fish to keep it exciting. The upcoming full moon should have the mutton snappers spawning and keep that bite consistent. Again best times to fish are early and late in the day. Best bet has been live baiting from 150-100ft. of water and we have had action from Fort Lauderdale to Boynton Beach, and everywhere in betweeen.
