Killer Fishing off fort Lauderdale

Capt. Taco Perez
October 8, 2013
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Sep 4
We started out this month fishing with Julie, Helmet and David from Florida.
As we started out the inlet we seen a bunch of fish busting bait on the surface so we headed over and BAM. We started fighting these big Jack Caravels one after another.
What a ball and talk about a great fighting fish.
We ended up catching and releasing 4 big ones.
Ok so back out to the ocean we headed and we knew we were in for a good trip.
We went trolling and caught 4 Mahi Mahi for dinner and a bunch of bonitos.
Thanks again for fishing with us aboard Hooked up and we are looking forward to fishing again soon.

Today we fished with Jon, Rob, Chris, Matt and Scott from North Carolina.
Today we tried some trolling and some kite fishing even did some deep drops on some wrecks but truth being told here fishing was slow.
We did end up catching a couple kingfish and a couple small black fin tunas along with a dozen bonitos.
But all in all it was a slow day except for the bonitos.
Guys thanks again and next time we will make it up to you.
Thanks again.

Today we fished with Melisa, Mabel, Tim and Charles from parts unknown.
Once again today we had little to no current and fishing was slow.
We started out trolling the reef but the kings and bonitos just shut down.
Ok everyone was having a good time all the same and so we decided to go big or go broke.
We set out our kites with live baits suspended from them when all at once BAM a monster sailfish popped up.
And just like that we were Hooked Up.
After a good 20 to 25 min fight we had the real big sailfish next to the bot.
We noticed this sail was missing most of his bill but he swam away in great shape to fight again another day.

What a ball fishing today with Karen, Doug and Robert.
We started out trolling the reef and catching a black fin tuna, 2 Spanish mackerels and a couple big blue runners.
Ok time to try for a big one so in came the trolling gear and out went the kites with live bait suspended from them.
Ok while we never did get the big one kite fishing we did catch a couple Mahi Mahi along with a couple barracudas and for the first time a yellow tail snapper out of the kite.
That's right a snapper a bottom fish came up and ate a surface bait.

Just when I think I got this fishing thing figured out something like this happens and I know that you just never know what's going to happen while deep-sea fishing off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

Today we had a ball fishing with Greg from South Florida, Dan from C.T., and Kyle from parts unknown.
We started out trolling the reef with planner boards running deep and 3 baits skipping across the surface. And once again it was the planner boards that paid off for with 2 king fish and 7 bonitos on the planners and 4 bonitos on the surface baits.
Ok now that the skunk was out of the box it was TIME TO TRY FOR A BIG FISH.

So in came the trolling gear and out went the shark baits. It did take some patience but at last the deep shark bait got hit and we were Hooked Up.
25 min later up popped this 75-inch hammerhead shark.

More Fishing Reports:

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
