Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
As we experience the cooler water tempuratures the King Mackeral or Kingfish are thriving. Day time fishing has been on fire as we pull in Kings well over 40lbs. Most are averaging between 10-20 lbs. but it is not unusual to pull in these monsters on King rigs loaded with Ballyhoo. Flatlines on the bottom seem to be working best with 2-3oz jigs. Letting the jigs drop to the bottom and then bouncing them up and down. King fish like moving targets so keep those jigs moving. Some guys are having more luck staying on top with lighter jigs and more line being let out. Baitless jigs have been producing as well, such as the Whip jig, Lucanus jig, or Diamond jigs. Blackfin Tuna, Snappers, Groupers and of course the Kingfish have all been hitting these jigs. No matter what technique or strategy you use being out on the water, especially this time of the year is like no other. Get out there and get your lines wet!
