Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
There are some mahi-mahi and wahoo starting to bite on our Fort Lauderdale fishing charters this week. The chilly weather this week is getting some mahi-mahi starting to bite out there. They aren't exactly jumping in the boat, but there are some out there to be found if you put the miles in. Trolling is the best technique because it allows you to comb the most area out there to find the fish. We're finding the mahi-mahi sporadically on the reef in numbers of 1-3 fish per school. There aren't a lot of them around, but they are one of the best things going. And the big benefit of looking for dolphin, is that you are trolling through 140-300ft of water, also known as sailfish and wahoo territory.
Wahoo are biting a bit on our charters too. They always hit the deep bait, and we always know it's a wahoo when it hits because of the scream that comes off the reel as his strips the drag. Wahoo hit like a freight train. Sailfish are biting as well, especially since it's gotten cold. Sails get super frisky when the cold weather hits. So a nice mix of sailfish and wahoo are possible fish too on our sportfishing trolling trips. Good luck to all those fishing this week. I'll sea ya on the water.
