Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Oct 8

Today we booked a trip at the last second off the dock and while we never got the names of our 2 anglers I will say they had a great fishing trip.
We started out trolling and catching a couple bonitos and a few kingfish.
Ok now that the skunk was out of the box it was time to try for the BIG ONE.
Out went the shark baits and before we knew it BAM we were Hooked Up. At first we really had no idea what we had on but once we got this shark close to the boat we could not believe our eyes a MAKO Shark off the coast of Fort Lauderdale!!
Wow I know up north in colder waters it is not that uncommon to catch Mako sharks but down here off the coast of Fort Lauderdale it is a big deal to us.
Guys nice going!!!

Today we started out our day fishing with Don, James and Andrew from Atlanta Georgia.
We went right to trolling and landed a couple kingfish and 2 Mahi Mahi.
Than we did a deep drop on a ship wreck and landed a nice amberjack.
As we got back to the dock we had Bill and a few of his close friends witch I am sorry to say we never got their names eager to give their luck a shot at some deep sea fishing aboard Hooked Up and the Hooked Up 2.
What we had here was a batcher party/ competition going on between the 2 boats.
Once again went to trolling without much luck so we brought in the trolling gear and set out our kites with live bait suspended from them.
This time we hit it good. We had a nice Mahi come up on one of our live baits and while we were feeding him another Mahi popped up on another one of our kite baits.
15 min later we had both Mahi Mahi in the boat along with some nice kingfish.
These were important fish to us because our sister ship the Hooked Up 2 had the other 6 guys on t

heir boat and they had caught a big sailfish so the pressure was on to say the least.
Thanks again to all of our anglers today that fished aboard both our boats.

More Fishing Reports:

Hi my name is Taco and I run one of the best charter fishing boats down here in South Florida. WHY? Because I’ve been fishing the waters down here since 1969 and I started at the bottom and worked my way up the ladder. I know what it is like to read a web site and than once you get to boat things are not as you thought they would be. Not here I say it like it is. No surprises. I’ve got a 45 foot Hatteras with a big cock pit. Fully aircondishened and refrigerated. Big comfortable platform.
