Monster Mahi-Mahi Caught On Our Fort Lauderdale Fishing Trip

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

This is the season the huge mahi-mahi come in to do their annual spawn in 300-450ft of water, right off the coast of Fort Lauderdale. While most of the year the average size mahi-mahi dolphin fish is in the 6-10 pound range, this time of year the big ones move through. Average fish are 10-15 pounds with many in the 15-25 pound range caught and every once in a while, a serious monster like this 50 pounder in the picture. Dolphin do an annual spawn in the months of March and April and while they are in "spawning mode", they throw caution to the wind and they get really aggressive and hungry. This is perfect for us to catch them. We should have really good dolphin fishing for the next 2-3 months, with the best fishing when the wind is out of the East for a few days straight. Good luck to everyone fishing this month. I'll sea ya on the water.
