Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
Spring is here and fishing in Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood has been pretty steady and we're catching a variety of species. We had trips a few weeks ago where we were catching kingfish on a regular basis, but now, the kingfish bite has slowed down quite a bit. Although we've seen fewer kings, the ones we have seen have been quite big - we caught one that went 47 lbs., slow trolling a live google eye.
For the past week or so, we've been catching a little more variety. Fishing for mahi-mahi has been very good this past week with multiple fish each trip and all of them are pretty good size - between 15 to 25lbs.
We're also getting some sailfish on our half day charters. This past week, Tony caught 2 and it was is first time saltwater fishing - that made it a very memorable experience for him. We also fished with Bri from Idaho and she got a double header on our kite baits, and was very excited as well.
Also if you want to catch sharks, there's lots of hammerhead in our waters anywhere from 100' to 600'. Blackfin tuna are starting to show up in our waters as well - we've caught some up to 27 lbs. Fishing for tuna will get even better as we approach the month of May. Early morning or late afternoon is prime time for these fish.
The weather has been very nice and the fishing has been good and should remain good for months to come, so give us a call and come have good time on the water with us.
