Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

King of the Reef
West winds have prevailed this last week and pretty strong too. If you are fishing within 2 miles or so from the beaches the water is basically flat. West winds make for a nice sea, offshore it gets swelly which is pretty nice too and in my opinion is the way waves should look like. Our last trip Domingo and family each had a few great catches. 4 Kingfish from 25 to 35 pounds brought to the boat and released before 9:30 am. It's a nice change to have clients releasing fish, it shows their out to just have a great time! Also on the list was an Amberjack that took one of our Gogs and a few more mystery fish that were big drag screamers, can't get them all. All this action has been happening during the low tide. Most Kingfish are skyrocketing the flatlines on top, so usually a pilchard will do the job, unless you can get a kite up then you will get some serious action. On the inside shallows the Grouper are good size and taking live baits and jigs off the bottom, and the Cero Mackeral are biting well for awsome light tackle battles. Swordfishing reports continue to be good. If the sea is good book a trip to catch a meatster, every trip catches something big, last week our boat caught a nice Mako shark.
Till Next Tide,
Captain Cary Hanna
