Fishing Report for Ft. Lauderdale & Port Everglades

Capt. Cary Hanna
October 23, 2003
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Great time to get on the water

In between fronts the weather has been so gorgeous. I love this time of year when the wind keeps the temperature in the low 80's. As we ventured out this morning it was almost to cold to wear shorts and tee shirts, but as the sun rose it warmed it up just right.

There is so much bait all over the place,we saw an acre or more of Ballyhoo just swimming the surface right near the beaches. We had no problem catching 3 dozen blue runners within 30 minutes near the bouys. The Kingfish are around, were finding some of them as deep down as 200 feet on the wrecks. The last few days the Sails were moving thrue in the 350 range. We saw a nice free jumper today and were able to land 1 in the boat for a picture. We also caught plenty of Amberjack up to 20 pounds off the bottom.

SWORDFISHING will be hot coming up on the new moon, were looking for that big trophy fish. Hope your aboard when it happens. We are rigged and so ready to fish for the big boys.

Till nex tide, Captain Cary Hanna
