Fishing Report for Ft. Lauderdale & Port Everglades

Capt. Cary Hanna
October 20, 2007
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

A Bullish market?

For the third week in a row the Mahi-Mahi have been making a good showing throughout south Florida. Season changes are starting and that means we will be seeing more fish. Sailfishing season is around the corner but we are still seeing a few fish coming through. The Kingfish bite has slowed down and the Bonito have moved on. A few Shark species are coming through. We had an aggressive Spinner Shark come through the spread this week. Their power and speed is awsome to see as they cut back and forth through the water as they zone in on a bait.

This month is a good time to get out Swordfishing. Each year in October, we catch more pumpkin Swordfish than most months. The Swordfish are also much bigger this time of year. A few weeks back a fish over 500 pounds was caught in the daytime. Congradulations to the crew on the Double D.

See you on the rip,

Captain Cary Hanna
