Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report
The temps are finally up to shorts weather again. A few passing rain clouds but it feels good to break a sweat. As far as the fishing goes, it's been slow on the offshore, big game scene. The conditions haven't been the best. Dirty water, no or poor wind conditions and lack of bait. A few boats riding out the time are getting a Sailfish or Kingfish but I have chosen to take a different approach. Most of my bait dunking this week has been on the bottom. The Grouper action has been great with lots of bites and a few large enough to take home for the oven. An occasional Sheepshead, Hogfish and Mackerel are jumping on too. In fact yesterdays outing put over 10 different species on the line. The Jacks and Barracuda are grabbing live baits pulled along the canals, and we jumped a few Tarpon this week doing that too.
It looks like the winds are going to be back out of the east again tomorrow so I'll be hunting the big game again. Dropping on the bottom with light gear isn't a bad way to wait for better offshore conditions though, and you can get a nice meal if your lucky too.
