Fort Lauderdale

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

March Madness fishing Fort Lauderdale

March madness is finally here and we’re not talking basketball. Instead were talking about fishing Fort Lauderdale. After a couple of months of inconsistent fishing it seems like a steady body of fish has arrived. Monster fishing, we have the hammerhead in great supply. We normally fish three baits for the broad head bruisers. We will suspend a bonita slab from the kite armed with big hooks and # 19 wire. Mid depth we will supend at 150 feet a kingfish head and on the bottom we do the same. Bites have not been long in coming, normally a healthy bite can be had within an hour. This is not for the faint of heart as you may be doing battle for a couple of hours. Your reward however a happy day today and a big game fish. Fort Lauderdale is your fishing headquarters for the next four months. Sailfish will continue their assault through may and the mahi mahi make a stronger and stronger showing after each passing day. The bonitas will swarm the reefs with a few blackfin tunas engulfing anything in their path. Sore arms are the norm when these gamesters are in town. The amberjack a.k.a. the reef donkey has invaded the artificial reefs from 150 to 300 feet of water. On the my boat the Local Knowledge we fish big 15 or 16/0 circle hooks with 125 # pound leader to help wrestle them from their domain. Give me, Capt. Mike a call at 954 522 4773 to book your adventure TODAY!
