Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Mahi Mahi Fort Lauderdale

Kite Fishing has been rather productive since the winds have picked up this month. The summer has pretty much moved past us and fall conditions are moving in. This means live baits and kite fishing, north currents and blue water. Mahi mahi will be patrolling the edge of the reef out to about 400 feet of water. Sailfish are beginning to make an appearance as well. While most October sails are on the smaller side they are overly aggressive and will eat anything in their path. They tend to travel in pods of 2 to 8 fish. Don't be afraid to fish on the deep side past the reef and the normal haunting depth of 120 feet. Check waters all the way out to say 550 feet.
