Fort Lauderdale, FL - Offshore

Capt. David Ide
June 3, 2002
Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

May was good!

Sailfish, Dolphin, Hammerhead Sharks, Kingfish and Blackfin Tuna.

Fishing was good and the NE winds were heavy the last week of May. The Sailfish were biting trolling. 25 to 35 lb fish. 2 to 4 shots a day.

We were catching Sharks in 300' of water. Some Spinner Sharks, some Blaktip Sharks and mostly Hammerheads Sharks.

We fish a dead Kingfish on the bottom. A Blue runner long and a goggle on the short bait in the kite. A dead bonita or king 120' down. This would cover the area and still give us a chance to catch a sail or a Dolphin in the kite.

In the middle of last week we blew an engine and we have been in the boat yard rebuilding the motor, so I apoligize for not catching up with my reports.

I checked in with the other boats this week and they are still catching lots of Sailfish, some gaffer and school Dolphin (not as many as we did this time last year) Blackfin Tunas and Kingfish.

We should be fishing again tomorrow.

Catch-em-up,

Capt. Kunta
