Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing is still great!

Sharks, Sailfish, Amberjacks and Dolphin. (Mahi-mahi) They have been biting almost every day!

The highlights from the week are:

On 3/25/03 Troy Harshman caught a 40” Amberjack. A couple of days later, Paul Chestnut caught a 81” Sailfish.

3/29/03 we went fishing all day and caught Dr. Tom DiBenedetto a 30lb King and that night he caught a 140 lb Swordfish.

On 3/30 Paul Walker and his son caught a 40” Barracuda.

4/1/03 Brett Horawitz, age 13 caught a 130’ Hammerhead (about 500 lbs +) after a 1 ½ hrs on 50 lb tackle. The shark ate a bonita out of the kite.

The next day Don Dziatklewicz caught a 128” Hammerhead on 100 lb line. We used a whole Bonito on the bottom in 350 feet of water.

4/3/03 Cavan Anderson caught a 77” Sailfish on 30 lb line off the kite.

4/4/03 Jed Ksler caught a huge Sailfish of 87” on 30 line. That afternoon Nick Kesler, 9 years old caught a 48” Amberjack.

If you notice all the fish are big and almost everyday we caught a nice fish. Most of the action is from 350’ to 80. On Saturday 4/5/03 we caught and released 50 Dolphin (Mahi-mahi) before 10 AM. We found the fish on a weed line in 400 feet of water. They ate cut bait for a while and when they quit we started with the live Pilchards. We caught a Sailfish and some Amberjacks later that day on live bait over a wreck.

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
