Fort Lauderdale, FL - Offshore

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

The Sharks are in town!

Hammerheads, Mako, Threshers, Bull Sharks and more. One Mako was caught by another boat that weighed in over 700 lbs. Just 1 1/2 miles off the beach! April is when the Sharks migrate through and it looks to be a good seasons. Yesterday afternoon we caught two Hammerhead Sharks. One nine foot and the other seven foot. These fish fight great and are an awesome catch. We've been catching them on live Blue Runners and dead Mackerel in 300' of water. The live baits on the surface and the dead baits down on the bottom.

The Sailfish are still eating the live baits, while kite fishing. The fish have been anywhere from 90' to 325' of water.

King Mackerel are starting to show up on the reefs. Trolling spoons and strips on the planers are the most effective way to catch them. Also for the bigger Kings, try live baiting. We've had a few Kings up to 30 lbs. using live Blue Runners.

On the Wrecks the Amberjacks are biting and the Bull Sharks are still there trying to eat every Amberjack we hook.

On the few nights that it has been calm, the Swordfish are biting real well. Fish up to 200 lbs have been caught in the last two weeks.

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
