Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Summertime fishing

The weather has been very calm the past few weeks and the hurricanes have passed us by.

The Bonitos have shown up in force. Trolling spoons and strips on a planer is the best way to catch these great fighting fish. King Mackerel and a few Wahoo have been mixed in with the Bonitos. The fish are on the outside of the reef in 80’ to 200’ of water.

The wreck fishing has been excellent. We have been catching Amberjacks, large Barracudas, Sharks and quite a few Warsaw Groupers up to 100 lbs.

The Mahi-mahi (Dolphin fish) have been hit and miss and at times they have been 20 to 30 miles offshore. Most of the fish are too small to keep, but fun to catch on light spinning rods.

There have been a few Sailfish around and the Swordfishing at night is good one night and slow the next night.

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
