Fort Lauderdale, FL - Offshore

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

March 2006

Fishing has still been pretty good, especially for February. Over the years February can be real slow. The Fort Lauderdale Billfish Tournament was Feb15th to the 19th. There were quite a few Sailfish caught during the tournament. Lots of large King Mackerel and even one over 50 pounds.

March should be really good as we have seen many postive indicators.

The Mahi-mahi have been pretty consistent. A few gaffers one day and some schoolies a few days later.

Quite a few Thresher Sharks and Mako Sharks have been caught the past few weeks. The Bull Sharks are still terrorizing the wrecks as they eat almost every Amberjack and Grouper we hook, before we can get them in.

There are some small King Mackerel and Bonitos biting spoons and strips on the wire lines and planers on the reef.

The Swordfishing is still excellent on the nights we can get offshore.

Catch-em-up,

Captain Kunta
