Starting off the New Year!

John, Matt and Kevin from Upstate New York joined us for some deep sea fishing in Fort Lauderdale today. We started off the morning, bright and early, trolling for some kings. We got a few, real nice size. They wanted a little more action, so Jeff put live bait out. Got some bites, and Matt fought a monster sail for a good hour.

SAILFISHING IS PICKING UP!
The following day we had a 4-boat charter. We had 2 sails hooked. Out Of The Blue caught a real nice one. Our buddies off Reel Work were 4 for 5. And the Big Game took home a 20lb. Jack. Seas were 2-4 feet, blowing about 30mph.

Today Pauly had a good feeling about running North so we headed up to Pompano Beach, just a few miles north of Port Everglades. I put 2 kites up with 4 gogs. Fishing was slow. It's just one of those things, you can't MAKE them bite. Then BAM! Before we knew it, we were 6 for 7 with the sailfish bite, with a 6ft. hammerhead in the cockpit. It actually turned out to be a great day of fishing. Thanks Pauly!

Today's Friday and we went out with a bang! John, Linda and Rick hopped on the Lady Pamela II this morning. First things first, we bought bait, and headed out to 130ft – 160ft of water. About 30 minutes later things were looking good. Capt. Pauly saw a sailfish on the left long as it ate a tinker mackerl. You could see it jumping high from feet away, and it was so exciting. 30 minutes later the fish fell off right at the back of the boat. Rick, a pretty upset angler, saw the sail coming down sea AGAIN and Capt. David Ide jumped into the water and caught the fish, literally. We decided to set up in another spot, this time in about 120ft of water. The right short got eaten, and John caught himself his first sailfish. They were happy campers.
