Kite Fishing in Fort Lauderdale
Today we had Steve and Seth from Indiana, Paul and Andy from Minnesota, Tim from Ohio and Lea from New York.
Once again right to kite fishing we went and once again it paid off with Andy catching a nice sailfish.
Sails are starting to show up better and better everyday and once we get a good cold front WATCH OUT they should be here stronger than ever.
Guys it was a ball fishing with you and out of all the boats out fishing this after noon you were the only one we heard of catching a sail this afternoon. Pretty work.

Sail Fishing in Fort Lauderdale
January 22nd, 2012
Today we set out fishing with Patrick, Dan, Tom and John all from Minnesota.
Once again trolling the reef was slow with Patrick landing a small bonito.
Ok time for plan B so out went the kites with live baits suspended from the kites and BAM Sailfish on the right long kite bait. Dan jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This turned out to be a good 25 min back and forth tug a war and at the end of the fight I sorry to say the sailfish was pretty much dead. Due to the long fight and the hook being down his throat he just did not make it
But all the same what a monster sail fish. Nice going Dan.
Quick side note guys we really do our best not to harm these fish but now and than one gets hooked bad and some of them do die however we do make sure the fish does not go to waste and we get the fish smoked and it does get eaten.
Thanks again to our friends from Minnesota for fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.

Fun Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Zach, Dana and Greg
January 20th, 2012
Today we had shared charter with Greg from Charlotte North Carolina and Dana and her son Zach from Pittsburg.
We started out with both kites flying with 4 live baits suspended from them. Ok the trap was set now all we needed was for a big hungry fish to come along!!
Than all of a sudden I seen a big sailfish all around our left long kite bait and BAM just like that we were Hooked Up.
Greg jumped in the chair and the fight was on. It started out as a back and forth tug a war but Greg hung in there and slowly we started gaining on the fish than after a good 20 min fight Greg caught this big sailfish.
Finally the skunk was out of the box and we were hopping another sail would pop up for us but after a good hour of waiting I decided it was time to make sure Zach caught a fish or 2.
So we slow trolled some feathers over a shipwreck and BAM now Zach was catching small bonitos.
Ok so now that we had these bonitos in our live well we decided to try one last trick we had up our sleeves.
J.J. put 3 trouble hooks in these great live baits while I slowly trolled them over a ledge just out side of our inlet.
It only took a few min when BAM the water splashed next to Zach's bait, the rod bent over and line started peeling off the reel.
ZACH WAS HOOKED UP and the whole boat go excited for him and cheering him on. Zach did a great job and landed his first barracuda off the coast of Fort Lauderdale aboard the Hooked Up.
We got a couple quick photos and sent him back into the sea for Zach to come back next year and try to catch him again when he is a little bigger both the fish and Zach. (LOL)
Greg, Dana and especially Zach thanks so much for spending the afternoon fishing with us aboard the Hooked Up.
