Sailfish Are Here

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

What a great week it has been down here in south florida aboard the YB Normal, the weather has been very windy but that doesn't mean that we haven't been fishing, we have been out fishing pretty much everyday this week and the bite has been on! Sailfish have been our main target but we have been catching a few very nice sized mahi mahi as well as some blackfin tunas also, the sail fishing has been spectacular just outside of the reef and we have been getting most of our bites while kite fishing with live goggle eyes. The mahi and tuna bite has been somewhat decent if you can find clean water, since it has been windy the last 2 weeks the water on the reef is very dirty and the edge has been further offshore in around 500 feet of water or so and thats where the water is clean and there has been plenty of current. We have been catching our mahi and tuna on surface baits consisting of small feathers and seawitches and bonito strips, some of our bigger tunas have been coming on our deeper lines with planners, on our deep lines we have been using small spoons as well as seawitches and bonito strips. This week for the most part we have caught a sailfish everyday, in the next few days we have a cold front arriving which should make the sail fishing even better so if your looking to catch one of these great gamefish now is the time to book!
As for night fishing in Fort Lauderdale I haven't been out due to the wind and waves but I would imagine it is somewhat decent not as good as summer time but there are snappers to catch. The weather looks great for the next week or so and we have some availability if your looking for a great deep sea fishing charter, Check out the YB Normal in Fort Lauderdale we will try our hardest to keep you hooked up!
