Sailfish Fort Lauderdale Charter Happy Day Today Capt. Zsak

Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

With east northeast winds at 15-22 mph, sporty seas, running 5-8 ft., we left the dock at Bahia Mar in Fort Lauderdale FL. Ross Methson and wife, along with friends from Wisconsin chartered the Happy Day Today to do some deep sea fishing with the Topshotfishing team off of Fort Lauderdale. We decided to purchase some live Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait so that we could fly the kite instead of trolling, to make the trip a little more comfortable for the guests. From there we headed out to the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL which is located 1.8 miles from shore in 120 ft. of water at the drop off. With two kites flying, two live Goggle Eyes from each kite, our first strike came on the left long – an 8 lb Mahi Mahi, followed by a couple more Mahi Mahi's.

Then our black shadow appeared, sitting underneath the right short kite, the Sailfish was checking out the bait very cautiously. To entice him, I told Dave, our mate, to raise and lower the bait causing the Goggle Eye to splash and excite the Sailfish. Immediately, the Sailfish swallowed the bait, exiting the water, tail-walking towards the boat, with the sun gleaming down on his spectacular body. Ross was the angler and his wife cheered him on. With numerous jumps and acrobatic shows, the fish was finally subdued and brought to the side of the boat. Dave, our mate, leaned over the side to grab the Sailfish's bill as he welcomed him aboard the Happy Day Today. Pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released to do battle again.

With a Sailfish catch and Mahi Mahi on the diner plate tonight, it turned into another successful and adventurous deep sea fishing charter in Fort Lauderdale FL with the Happy Day Today, the Topshotfishing Team and Captain Zsak - 954-309-7457 – www.topshotfishing.com
