Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Erik Dillon and wife, Kim, from Sacramento, CA chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team for an enjoyable deep sea fishing excursion. With the breeze out of the east at 10 mph, seas running 3-4 ft., we decided to do some live bait fishing. We stopped and purchased live Goggle Eyes from T & T Bait and headed out south to one of our 34 artificial wrecks located in Fort Lauderdale FL. We had two kits out, two live Goggle Eyes from each kite and one Shark bait down. Erik is an avid fisherman, while Kim came along as the photographer. Our first fish came on the left long. Immediately the fish came out of the water – Sailfish!!!! He exited the water with spectacular jumps. Even in the distance, with the sun shining down on his silver and blue neon body, he looked large. Erik fought his large Sailfish, brought it to the boat, pictures were taken and the fish was released. We went back to the same spot to reset again – this time a Mahi Mahi appeared. Erik talked his wife into being the angler on this one – she brought the fish to the side of the boat and Dave, our mate, gaffed and put him in the fish box, which will turn into a delicious Mahi Mahi diner tonight.

As Erik was telling us of his fishing excursions on the Pacific Ocean, a Sailfish appeared on the right long. We hooked up with the Sailfish and immediately he came out of the water doing a Foxtrot across the water. The Sailfish was brought to the boat, pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released. Our next fish was a Mahi Mahi on the right short. This time Erik could not talk Kim into putting down the camera, and he became the angler. The Mahi Mahi was brought in and put in the fish box. Erik made a request for one more Sailfish –it was like the man above heard him because another Sailfish appeared, was hooked, brought to the side of the boat and released. With three Sailfish flags flying and two Mahi Mahi's in the box, our fishing charter came to an end.
