Fort Lauderdale - Saltwater Fishing Report

Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Jose Vazquez from Virginia, a Master Sergeant in the U.S. Army, who has traveled around the world and has fished in every ocean, made a decision to go deep sea sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale. He chartered the Happy Day Today with the Topshotfishig team and took his with wife, Anny, and daughter, Thali, along to enjoy this fishing trip.

With a northeast wind at 17 mph and little current, I decided to head north of Fort Lauderdale to an artificial wreck that sits in 180 ft. of water. When there is little or no current your best bet is to set up over a structure where bait can be found. I set up two kites with two live Goggle Eyes on each kite. It did not take long before the action started. Our first fish was a Tuna in the 15 lb. class from the left long kite, followed by a black shadow on the right short. A dorsal fin appeared followed by a bill chasing and attacking the live Goggle Eye. The Sailfish immediately exited the water putting on a spectacular show, as he tailed walked half way to the boat. Thali was the angler and she brought the Sailfish to the side of the boat, while pictures were taken and the Sailfish released. Soon after another dorsal fin appeared – this one belonging to a 6 ft. Shark. Anny brought the Shark to the side of the boat, and again pictures were taken and the Shark was released. With little time left to enjoy the fishing trip, another Sailfish appeared. This time Jose was the angler with repeat spectacular show by the Sailfish – he brought the Sailfish to the boat, pictures were taken and Sailfish again was released.

With little to no time left, I said, "just one more", and we fired the kites back out. Sailfish on the left short – Sailfish on the right long!!!!! Jose was the angler on one of them and the other Sailfish got free. Jose brought his second Sailfish to the boat while pictures were taken and the Sailfish was released.

Everyone had a good time, but it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
